THE LWO ASSISTS EMPLOYERS TO COMPLY WITH LABOUR LAW.

The LWO was established in the agricultural sector in 1990. We are very proud of this history as farmers, as employers, face exceptionally challenging circumstances to manage their businesses sustainably and productively.

Since then, the LWO has positioned itself to serve all employers in all industry sectors, nationally, in the field of labour law.

WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?

Who can help me to comply with South Africa’s labour law?
Restrictive labour regulations make doing business in South Africa extremely difficult. It is a trend among business owners to outsource non-core activities, so that the employer has more time available to spend on core activities.

Essentially, the employer has six options to consider: handle it him-/herself, employ a full time labour law expert, or outsource the expertise to a professional service provider (four options available).

Take note that when outsourcing, there are definite differences between the four available options that can have major implications with specific reference to cost, specialist knowledge, spectrum of services, infrastructure and availability, etc.

A FEW QUESTIONS TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN SELECTING A SPECIALIST TO SUPPORT YOUR COMPANY IN STAYING COMPLIANT:

The LWO successfully runs a labour law training programme in agricultural schools and other training institutions. From the feedback, it is clear that the course is of great value to the learners who, in many cases, go on to work in the business environment, including the agricultural sector.

DO YOU SPECIALISE IN LABOUR LAW AND DO YOU HAVE APPLICABLE EXPERIENCE?

Remember: The LWO has been assisting employers to comply with labour law since 1990 and is a market leader today in the field of labour law in terms of expertise. The LWO has a team of highly trained legal advisors – currently with roughly 235 years’ relevant experience in the field of labour law. As a registered employers’ organisation we focus solely on assisting the employer to comply with labour law.

DO YOU RENDER SERVICES ON THE EMPLOYER’S PREMISES?

Remember: The LWO renders services on the employer’s premises according to our members’ needs. We are proud of our values and render quality services.

IS YOUR SOLUTION COST-EFFECTIVE?

Remember: The LWO is a non-profit members’ organisation which means that finances are managed in our members’ best interest and not to chase profit. We definitely make a profit (otherwise our organisation wouldn’t be sustainable), but call it a surplus, which is invested back into the organisation to improve service delivery with regards to specialist knowledge and infrastructure.

HOW LONG HAS THE BUSINESS BEEN OPERATING? BUSINESS CONTINUITY?

Remember: The LWO has been specialising in the field of labour law for 32 years. The organisation was established in 1990 to assist employers to comply with labour law.

The LWO has a national footprint and the necessary infrastructure to guarantee our members receive quality services when they need it. We also have a 24/7 legal advice helpline where our members have direct access to our legal department for assistance at any time.

CAN I AS THE EMPLOYER GIVE INPUT WITH REGARDS TO THE MANAGEMENT OF THE ORGANISATION?

Remember: The LWO is a non-profit members’ organisation managed by a Board consisting of members of the organisation. The benefit to you as member, is that the organisation is managed by employers who have first-hand experience and knowledge of the workplace and challenges employers face, and gives strategic direction to the organisation according to members’ needs.
